It is good for me that I have been afflicted, That I may learn Your statutes.
Over the years, I've met many Christians who have gone through terrible things in their lives and still manage to shine for the Lord. I've spoken with believers who have gotten cancer or other terrible ailments and, more often than not, they want to pray for me! If you can't imagine yourself ever saying it's good to go through difficult times, I understand. And yet, you'll be surprised by the unbelievable strength the Lord gives you through His Spirit.
None of us pray for disaster to hit us. Job didn't pray that the Lord would wipe out his family, destroy his property, and afflict his body with painful boils. Yet, after truly meeting the Lord in Job 38-42, he could no doubt say that it was good for him.
There are numerous reasons we have difficulties. Some of them are self-inflicted. However, the results of the Lord allowing them will be the same. We will learn His word and trust in it more often. Know that the Lord has promised to never leave you nor forsake you and that He’s there with you in the good times and bad.
Learning to trust God in all situations,
