For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father."
When I was younger my brother and sister would tease me and tell me I was adopted and it would make me feel like I was not a part of the family. As you could imagine the first time I read this verse, it made me sad. I didn't want to be adopted, I wanted to be a part of the family. As I prayed about it, God opened my eyes and brought me to my knees in complete worship and adoration.
When someone is adopted they are chosen by their parents and, not only that, it costs something when you are adopted. For Christians, we were bought with the precious blood of Christ and by His blood we enter into His family. We were chosen by Him and bought with His blood and that gives us the freedom to cry out Abba, Father. What a glorious gift!
For the King,
