But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
Have you ever seen a millstone? It's a huge, heavy, round stone used to grind grain into powder, not something you want tied around you when you go swimming. And Jesus' point is easy to understand here, it's easy to stumble others in the body when we are focused on ourselves, seeking to climb over others so that we can climb higher on the greatness ladder.
And if you thought that God doesn't take notice of this, that He doesn't pay much attention to how we treat and value one another, I guess this verse would answer that for you. We are called to love one another, not seek to be better than one another or live in a manner that would cause others to be stumbled in their faith.
We should see others as valuable, and worthy of our time and service, because God is watching and He desires unity and love amongst His children.
