Psalm 40:5,17

Many, O LORD my God, are Your wonderful works which You have done; And Your thoughts toward us Cannot be recounted to You in order; If I would declare and speak of them, They are more than can be numbered. But I am poor and needy; Yet the LORD thinks upon me. You are my help and my deliverer; Do not delay, O my God.
Psalm 40:5,17

I am forever grateful to King David for writing this psalm, for in it I discover a truth I have known, but need to be constantly reminded of: I am always on God's mind! It is indeed hard for me to comprehend the idea that God is constantly thinking of me. I trust that those who love me think of me from time to time and do so with joy and goodness. I suspect those who dislike me even think of me once in a while, although not so joyfully. I can even believe and understand that God who loves me unconditionally would think of me now and again as I pray or serve Him; or more likely as I fall on my face in sin and disappointment. God is thinking of me all right, while shaking His head and sighing and maybe muttering something under His breath. That is not the case at all.

These two verses suggest an entirely different concept: one that tells us there is never a split second where you and your life are out of His thoughts. Never a moment when you are out of His mind or out of His field of vision, away from His concern or willful thoughts; never, ever. Wow! May knowing that comfort you today, may knowing that bring your great strength, and may realizing His attentiveness towards you convince you yet again of His wonderful love!

He is thinking about me right now!
