2 Chronicles 16:12-13

And in the thirty-ninth year of his reign, Asa became diseased in his feet, and his malady was severe; yet in his disease he did not seek the LORD, but the physicians. So Asa rested with his fathers; he died in the forty-first year of his reign.
2 Chronicles 16:12-13

Asa was a good king of Judah who honored the Lord by his leadership decisions and reforms. However, as he grew older, his devotion to the Lord languished. We read here of a severe foot disease that afflicted Asa and we learn, with astonishment, that rather than taking his suffering to the Lord and seeking Him for healing and deliverance, he sought only the doctors that were treating him. It is, of course, wise to get good medical help, but the comment here reveals the lack of dependency and confidence that Asa had in the Lord near the end of his life. Two years later, he died. I wonder what might have happened if Asa had diligently sought the Lord.

Be sure to include God in all things,
