Romans 12:2

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Romans 12:2

In all of history, perhaps no nation was more religious than Israel in Isaiah's day. The temple was filled with people. The altar ran red with the blood of sacrifice. The festivals were all strictly observed. And prayer was heard in the house of God. I'm sure some were boasting of the record numbers in the temple. But the people were only fooling themselves. With record numbers for church attendance, morally the nation was falling apart.

It is the same today in America. Over 75 percent of Americans surveyed in 2015 claimed to be Christian. We have mega churches, some boasting more than 40,000 in attendance each week. But do we really believe our nation is not falling deeper and deeper into moral bankruptcy? Just showing up to church is not going to be enough. God wants our hearts.

God's answer for Isaiah was, "Learn to do good; Seek justice, Rebuke the oppressor; Defend the fatherless, Plead for the widow" (Isaiah 1:17). His answer for us is the same; we must allow His Word to transform us, to change our way of thinking to His.

Being transformed,
