John 15:4

Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
John 15:4

On the evening before He would be crucified, Jesus taught His disciples the allegory of the vine and the branches, explaining that He is the true vine, God the Father is the vinedresser, and those whose faith is in the Lord are the branches.

Here we are given a directive from Jesus; "Abide in Me." Our will comes into play here; we have an active role in our relationship with Christ. We abide. We stay actively connected to Him in prayer, in thought, and in the study of His word. Our hearts are tuned in and our minds are aware.

Believer, let's remember that abiding in Him will change you and me for the better. The fruit that our life produces will become sweet and satisfying, but it won’t be because we are good at improving ourselves, it will be because Jesus is good at keeping His promises to us.
