Ecclesiastes 5:1

Walk prudently when you go to the house of God; and draw near to hear rather than to give the sacrifice of fools, for they do not know that they do evil.
Ecclesiastes 5:1

Solomon was taking a moment to observe what was going on in the Temple and his opening warning was to watch your step, "Walk prudently," when you come in to worship. In other words, this is serious business and we should never be flippant or arrogant about it. I've heard it well said, "that fruitful and acceptable worship begins before it begins." How do you approach your worship time at church? Do you rush in, take a seat, and hope the worship songs will get you ready or do you arrive a bit early, calm your heart and ask the Lord to prepare you to worship Him in spirit and truth?

Next time you come to church, don't be guilty of merely giving God lip service, but take a moment to draw near to Him and ready your heart to stand in the presence of a Holy God.

In humble adoration,

Pastor Gerard Deleeuw
