Genesis 6:9

This is the genealogy of Noah. Noah was a just man, perfect in his generations. Noah walked with God.
Genesis 6:9

If we wonder why Noah received grace from God, we just have to read this verse that says Noah walked with God. Adam used to walk with God in the cool of the day before sinning. We who are saved have the opportunity to walk with God by reading His Word and praying to Him, but we don’t often take advantage of it.

Verse 9 describes three aspects of Noah. Number one, he was just or righteous. In a world that did so many wrong things, Noah was the opposite, looking to please God. That’s why when we do the right thing, the godly thing, we stand out in the world in which we live.

Number two, he was perfect in his generations, Noah was an upright guy. None of us are perfect, to be sure, but we can follow God’s direction in dealing with others. You get the feeling Noah wasn't going to rip off people and that he was aghast at the world around him. Are we? Or do we just compromise and do the same things the unbelievers are doing?

And number three, he walked with God. Psalm 1 says that the righteous man doesn’t walk in the counsel of the ungodly. I’m sure there was plenty of ungodly counsel to go around for Noah in the wretched world in which he dwelt, but he'd rather listen to God.

Are we walking with God or are we walking with the world? We should ask ourselves this often.

Following God,

Pastor Ron Kitchell
