Joshua 3:8

"You shall command the priests who bear the ark of the covenant, saying, 'When you have come to the edge of the water of the Jordan, you shall stand in the Jordan.'"
Joshua 3:8

The priests who were tasked with transporting the Ark of the Covenant to the promised land faced a seemingly impossible obstacle along the way, the Jordan River.

God's directive to these guys is very interesting; He told them to step into the river and stand there. I'm sure it didn’t seem very practical to the Ark carriers at the time, and it certainly wasn't the safest plan of action, as the Jordan was at flood stage at this time of year. Yet, when God's instructions were faithfully followed, the Lord miraculously parted the waters of the river, so they could continue their journey.

So often, faith requires action, and sometimes the action required is to stand in the midst of the turbulence and wait on the Lord. You and I must be willing to trust God's promises to lead and to deliver us, no matter the circumstances. Today, let's be ready to get our feet wet.
