James 4:7

Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
James 4:7

Your enemy, the Devil, is an adversary that is smarter than you, stronger than you, craftier than you, and much more evil than you. With this kind of match-up, you'd think you wouldn't stand a chance. And to be honest, you really don't. There is only one way to beat Satan, and that's by submitting yourself to God. If you keep falling into the same patterns of sin, you have to submit yourself to the God of all grace. By submitting to Him, you, therefore, are resisting the Devil. And we are told that when we do this, Satan will flee. The temptation will pass. That's not to say it won't come back but you will get relief.

There is certainly some holy sweat involved in this because submitting to God requires you to be disciplined to seek His refuge. It's like working out your muscles; the more you exercise, the easier it gets and the less pain it takes to get through the workout. And just like time spent in the gym, the reward always pays off when you subject yourself to the discipline it requires. Therefore, submit to God!
