Proverbs 26:13

A sluggard says, "There’s a lion in the road, a fierce lion roaming the streets!"
Proverbs 26:13

The sluggard spoken of here is a man or woman who is lazy. Laziness is a tricky thing to address because it's usually the hard working people that guilt themselves into believing they are lazy and the people that actually are, think they are anything but lazy. Laziness has a way of affecting the mind in very creative, imaginary ways as we see from the verse above.

The sluggard who cries out, "There’s a lion in the road," is the person that finds ridiculous excuses for not getting out of bed or off the couch to get done what needs to get done. But the sluggard doesn't find these excuses to be ridiculous; he or she is convinced that they are very real as they fall into the self-destructive trap of believing their own lies. Laziness is an ugly trap that blinds you to reality. A few verses down in verse 16, the author says, "A sluggard is wiser in his own eyes than seven people who answer discreetly."

If you find yourself stuck and getting nothing done, consider the wisdom of the proverbs and take it before the Lord to see what He has to say about it. He would love nothing more than to give you strength to go about His business!
