Psalm 86:1

Bow down Your ear, O LORD, hear me; For I am poor and needy.
Psalm 86:1

Psalm 86 is one of only five psalms that are introduced as a prayer or tphillah in Hebrew. Three, including this one, were written by David. They give us helpful insights into how this man after God's own heart brought his concerns to the Lord. You might be surprised to know that nearly every one of the 17 verses that make up this psalm are scripture quotes from other places. It is a good practice to bring your Bible to your prayer time, God loves when you quote Him directly! Also, David spent the first 13 verses praising God for Who He is and didn't mention his need until verses 14-17. Go read Psalm 86 today for yourself and as you head for prayer, follow David's example of bringing the scriptures along with you and spend some time considering who God is before laying before Him your concerns and cares.

Learning to pray from David's example,
