Jeremiah 31:3

"Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you."
Jeremiah 31:3b

Let’s be honest. At times we may have the feeling that God loves us more when we are doing good, and less when we're not doing so well. In our heads, we know that God's love for us isn't subject to change based upon our wavering behavior but believing it in our hearts is another matter.

When you were the most unloveable, God loved you with an everlasting love. There is no end to a love that is everlasting. His commitment of love is so profound that He sacrificed His perfect Son so that you could be reconciled to a relationship with Him. The barrier of your sin was forgiven and removed. The Father looks upon Jesus and pardons you, believer. He has drawn you towards Him with lovingkindness, as only a devoted Father can.

May we venture to prayerfully understand this: His love rules. His correction of us is not punishment for our bad behavior, it's His love intervening in our lives to keep us from the punishment that would come our way without Him. On the flip side; His unending love and grace lavished on us is not approval of our unholy behavior. He longs for us to respond to His love with a heart of repentance and change. Let's remember today to thank God for His everlasting love.
