Isaiah 10:15

Shall the ax boast itself against him who chops with it?
Or shall the saw exalt itself against him who saws with it?
As if a rod could wield itself against those who lift it up,
Or as if a staff could lift up, as if it were not wood!

Isaiah 10:15

One of the greatest privileges of walking with the Lord is realizing His desire to make us useful in accomplishing the work of His kingdom. We bring nothing to the table that qualifies us to get the job done; He alone equips. In chapter 10 of Isaiah, we learn that God even used the wicked kingdom of Assyria to accomplish His purposes.

Isn't it deeply satisfying when we become willing instruments for good in His hands? We must remember to be watchful of our hearts. When He achieves His work through us, oftentimes our pride in ourselves will begin to stir.

Today, let's remember to thank Him for making us useful, even when we feel useless. Thank Him for lifting us "up to the task" by His Spirit, so that our only boast is one that points directly toward our Mighty Maker.
