1 Chronicles 12:38

All these men of war, who could keep ranks, came to Hebron with a loyal heart, to make David king over all Israel; and all the rest of Israel were of one mind to make David king.

1 Chronicles 12 is a listing of the men whom God brought to David over a period of time while he was still a fugitive from Saul who, knowing his days were numbered, was still fighting God and His will, seeking to kill David and his men. Many of these men are described above with words that any believer would be proud to have written of them, they could keep rank, they had loyal hearts and were of one mind.  How awesome is that? They knew their calling, could follow the leadership of another, had hearts that were loyal, could be trusted and were dedicated to seeing God’s will accomplished by making David king.   

Divided hearts are death to our spiritual lives. We cannot follow Jesus periodically, when we find time or as it suits us. He wants wholehearted saints. In no relationship or endeavor is duplicity a good quality. We won’t stand for it in our spouses, employees, family or friends. Yet one heart for the Lord and one heart together for His will can make us individually and collectively a powerful tool in His hands.
