1 Corinthians 11:1

1 Corinthians 11:1

Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.
1 Corinthians 11:1

What a bold command Paul gives to the Corinthian church. Here, he offers himself up as an example of Christlikeness. As Christians, we each are engaged in the lifelong process of sanctification, the purpose of which is to make us more and more Christlike. Because Jesus is perfection, we know that we can never be exactly like Him, but we can certainly move closer and closer.

Paul was confident in His walk with the Lord and felt assured that he could be an example for others. Was Paul perfect? No. As a matter of fact, he considered himself chief of sinners (1 Timothy 1:15), and he struggled with his flesh (Romans 7:15). Yet Paul allowed the Lord to work in his life and mold him to the point to where he could be a legitimate example of Christ.

How is your walk with Jesus going? Could you ask someone to imitate you as you imitate Christ? If not, do not fret, as God is not done with you yet! Ask the Lord to work in your heart and yield to Him as he molds and shapes you to be more like Jesus.

In His Hands,
