1 Corinthians 14:31-32

For you can all prophesy one by one, that all may learn and all may be encouraged. And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.
1 Corinthians 14:31-32

I think there are times when we forget that God used regular human beings to do His work. Men of “like passions” were chosen and equipped by God to speak His words to the people and advance His kingdom here on earth. But God didn’t wipe out their personality when He selected and prepared them. The bold and intellectual personality of Paul still shone through in his ministry and writings. The love, gentleness and compassion of John the Apostle is evident in his approach to the gospel and the letters he wrote to the churches. God certainly refined these men in their usefulness, but He didn’t turn them into a cookie-cutter blank slate. He wrote His will on the hearts of their existing character and personality.

I know we all want to be used by God in some way. We desire to see His will being done here on earth as it is in heaven. But sometimes, we get discouraged because we feel like we don’t measure up. “I’m not like John, and I’m certainly not a Paul,” might be our excuse. But God already used those guys, and now He wants to use you. He created you this way and would love to have you surrender your service to His will just the way you are. He’ll do the refining if it’s necessary. Just simply say, “Here am I, Lord, send me.”

Offering God who I am,
