1 Kings 17:12-14

1 Kings 17:12-14

So she said, “As the Lord your God lives, I do not have bread, only a handful of flour in a bin, and a little oil in a jar; and see, I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it, and die.” And Elijah said to her, “Do not fear; go and do as you have said, but make me a small cake from it first, and bring it to me; and afterward make some for yourself and your son. For thus says the Lord God of Israel: ‘The bin of flour shall not be used up, nor shall the jar of oil run dry, until the day the Lord sends rain on the earth.’”

1 Kings 17:12-14

The widow of Zarephath faced a desperate situation, yet God used her obedience to demonstrate His miraculous provision. In our own lives, we often face situations where resources seem scarce. However, a faith that cannot be tested cannot be trusted. If you’re in a season of life where your faith is being tested, understand this, that the Lord is preparing you for greater acts of faithfulness in the future.

Are there areas where you might be holding back from God out of fear or perceived scarcity? Are you willing to trust God with your “last meal”? Remember, God’s economy often defies human logic. He can multiply our small offerings in ways we can’t imagine. So, allow God to increase your faith and your willingness to give generously, even when it doesn’t make sense from a human perspective.
