1 Peter 4:7-9

1 Peter 4:7-9

But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers. And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.” Be hospitable to one another without grumbling.

1 Peter 4:7-9

Many of us feel that we’re in the last days. In this passage, Peter gives us a blueprint for how we should live in these last days. Knowing the end is at hand should spur us on to practical Christian living with prayer, love, and hospitality as key ingredients.

We are to be praying not just with our eyes shut (the things we pray for ourselves) but with our eyes open (being watchful of the things around us as God reveals them to us).

We are to be loving: Christian love can be costly when it’s unconditional. We need to be willing to set ourselves aside as Jesus did and, through love, forgive those around us.

We are to be welcoming: This is how love works itself out in a tangible way. We welcome others (even when it’s inconvenient) without complaining. We open our homes and our lives to those around us, especially in these last days when people need to see the love of Christ in a practical way.

Praying, loving, welcoming; may we occupy until He comes,
