1 Peter 5:2-3

Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers, not by compulsion but willingly, not for dishonest gain but eagerly; nor as being lords over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.

1 Peter 5:2-3 

Peter exhorts church leaders to shepherd God’s flock with humility and eagerness. This calling extends to all believers in various capacities. We all have places of influence and leadership in our lives whether at home, at school, at work, or even among our circle of friends. So how can you lead by example in these areas?

And as you’re thinking about that check on the motivation behind your service. Are you serving out of obligation or with genuine love? Do you sincerely care for those in your places of influence? We can’t do it without God’s help so ask Him to renew your passion for serving others and to help you lead by example in all areas of your life. A true servant simply serves.
