1 Thessalonians 5:4-5

But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness.

Though we don’t know the day or the hour when Jesus will return for us, we are given signs of the times that we may be aware of what is coming so that with that knowledge, we would live lives that are expecting to see our Lord.

While those in the world may be in the dark about these things, we aren’t, “You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness,” Paul writes. God has given us understanding so that we can see and know the days that we live.

Jesus said in John 8, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” Paul wrote in Ephesians 5, “For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.” Jesus said He was the light of the world, and now, as His followers, we have become the light bearers, living lives that lead others to Jesus so that they would be saved.

So go into all the world, preach the Gospel, and let it shine, let it shine, let it shine!
