1 Timothy 4:8

1 Timothy 4:8

“For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come.”
1 Timothy 4:8

People will devote their whole lives to bodily exercise. They will buy special clothes, go to special gyms, plan their days and weeks around their exercises or practices, and even eat special diets. But how many of us will do any of those things for spiritual exercise?

Paul makes it clear that spiritual exercise is more profitable. That we should be doing all these things and more when it comes to our spiritual lives. Muscle and skill will come and go. But godliness is eternal and profitable for all things.

So today, let’s exercise our faith. Let’s strive for godliness. It’s never a waste of time or energy.
