1 Timothy 6:6-7
Now godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
1 Timothy 6:6-7
Have you ever had the experience of struggling with a problem and looking for a solution when suddenly you find the answer is right there, staring you in the face? Some might say, “Nice job, Captain Obvious,” whereas my daughter might say, “Duh!” Maybe that’s how you feel about Paul’s reminder here to Timothy, but it’s a reminder that we all may need at one time or another.
It’s so easy for us to get caught up in gathering up things in this life, seeking out more “stuff” to fill our closets and garages, and thinking that more things will bring great gain to our lives. But Paul would remind us that living as God would have us to live is a great treasure, and being satisfied with what God provides is the greatest gain.
Because if you didn’t already know it, you brought nothing into this world, and it is certain that you won’t carry anything out. Duh!
