For David said, “The Lord God of Israel has given rest to His people that they may dwell in Jerusalem forever.”

The word of God is comforting. It is everlasting and it uplifts the soul. God has been gracious to give His living word that has the power to transform and grant eternal peace to those who apply it to their lives. The Bible is truly the only book that has this much power because, unlike other writings, it is based on promises from God Himself. God’s promises cannot be broken or taken back because God is incapable of lying, “God is not a man, that He should lie” Numbers 23:19.

In 1 Chronicles 23:25, David is quoted as saying, The Lord God of Israel has given rest to His people.” This was a promise from God based on the fact that even though the Israelites had a track record of making decisions that weren’t in line with His plans for them, God was faithful to them. And God will always continue to be faithful to you and me as well. In the midst of my hardest struggles, the word of God tells me I will still find rest in Him. I can rely on this because it is a promise from God. And you can rely on Him as well. The next time you are faced with a tough situation, remember it is God’s promises, not our situations, that make us who we are. And we are children of the Most High who have been promised rest.
