2 Corinthians 12:10
And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
2 Corinthians 12:10
It is easy to think that we are always called to be strong, to do things on our own. In the verse above, we see that is the farthest thing from the truth. When we are strong, we tend to depend on ourselves instead of looking to the Lord. Paul had an ailment of some sort that moved him to go before God and pray multiple times. Ultimately God would say no and we see His response here in verse 10. God reminds Paul that His grace is sufficient and that His strength is made perfect in weakness.
God’s grace is sufficient to meet us where we are at, to meet our needs, because by ourselves, we are not enough. In Christ, we are more than enough and more than able to do all that God calls us to do. In our weakness, God’s strength and power is displayed and through that He receives the honor and glory that He is worthy of. So, in those moments when we think we have to be strong, may we remember we are weak and yet in that weakness Christ is sufficient and Christ’s strength upholds us.
