2 Kings 5:11

2 Kings 5:11

But Naaman became furious, and went away and said, “Indeed, I said to myself, ‘He will surely come out to me, and stand and call on the name of the Lord his God, and wave his hand over the place, and heal the leprosy.’”

2 Kings 5:11

Have you ever read the Bible and didn’t like the instructions the Lord gave you? Maybe the Lord has told you to love your enemies and that just sounds repulsive to you. Maybe you don’t like that the Lord wants you to forgive others.

Naaman was a pagan worshiping commander of the Syrian army who had leprosy. A young girl who had been captured from Israel told him about a prophet in Samaria, who would turn out to be Elisha. He could heal him, said this young girl.

Since Naaman had nothing to lose, he decided to give it a try, but when told the solution, to dip in the Jordan River seven times, he didn’t like it. You can see the method he was expecting in the verse above.

Naaman finally decided to follow Elisha’s directions and his leprosy disappeared. The lesson is it’s better to follow God, whether you agree with Him or not, than to make your own plans without him.
