2 Peter 1:3-4
As His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
2 Peter 1:3-4
What an astounding truth – that we can be “partakers of the divine nature”! Through Christ, we have escaped the corruption of the world and been given a new nature. His promises don’t just give us confidence. His promises gave us a completely new nature. So, what does it mean to share in God’s nature? How does this change your self-perception and/or your daily choices?
As we’re reminded in Romans 8:29, God’s purpose for our life is to be conformed to the image of Christ. Every day when we wake up, we make a conscience choice to walk in the flesh or to live out of our new nature. When faced with temptation or difficult decisions, pause and ask, “How would Jesus respond in this situation?” Let the reality of your divine nature guide your actions and attitudes.
