2 Peter 1:5, 8

2 Peter 1:5, 8

But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge,…For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

2 Peter 1:5, 8

True virtue is a rare commodity in our day and age, yet Peter calls us to add virtue and knowledge to our faith. But what does that look like? Against a world full of immorality, we need to cultivate moral courage on a day-by-day basis. Are there areas where you need to stand firm for what’s right, even when it’s unpopular? It’s almost impossible to do on our own but we can ask God for the strength to live virtuously and the wisdom to discern His will.

But true virtue cannot exist without a firm and healthy knowledge of our loving Heavenly Father. We need to remember that knowledge in the Christian life isn’t just academic; it’s practical and relational. Spend time in God’s Word today, asking Him to reveal more of Himself to you and you’ll find that knowledge and virtue will be added to your faith.
