2 Timothy 2:15

2 Timothy 2:15

Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

2 Timothy 2:15

Have you ever thought of the Bible as your friend? More often, we tend to think of the Bible as our schoolmaster, that which tells us what to do and how to behave. Not that the Bible doesn’t give us the guidelines we need to live a godly life, but do we embrace those precepts, or are we ashamed at times?

We all have circumstances or things in our lives that we’re ashamed of. We hope they don’t ever come up in conversation. We don’t want to have to explain them to anyone, but, on the other hand, those things that we’re proud of, we want to share with everyone around us. Paul tells Timothy that spending diligent time in God’s Word and holding that straight course brings the Father’s approval. And of that, we need never be ashamed.

So today, when you pick up your Bible, don’t simply read it to gain knowledge but realize the Word of God is your ally to help you, not your enemy to beat you up. It’s that friend you can introduce to others and be assured that you have God’s approval as you diligently seek Him through His Word.

Not ashamed,

Pastor Gerard Deleeuw
