Ephesians 4:11-12
And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers for the edifying of the body of Christ.
Ephesians 4:11-12
Earlier in Ephesians 2:10, Paul tells us that we are created in Christ Jesus for good works prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. The beauty of doing works for the kingdom of God is that the work is done not by our own strength but instead by God. We are to do our best and God does the rest, as the saying goes. God enables us in a variety of ways for His purposes, and one of those ways is to provide leaders in the church to prepare us and show us the way of serving.
When we go to church, do we attend with the expectation that we are being equipped for ministry? Do we observe those in leadership and in ministry who are doing the work of God and seek to imitate their walk? God wants to prepare us to minister, to edify the body of Christ, and He wants us to answer His calling on our lives. We should not let a feeling of intimidation or a feeling of being ill-equipped prevent us from stepping out into the ministry God has for us. He is always preparing us for something, and we should always be seeking what that something might be. Lord, may we be attentive and responsive to the calling that you have placed on each of our lives.
