Colossians 2:6-7
As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.
Colossians 2:6-7
In the above verses, Paul gives us some tips on how to be strong in Christ. When we are being persuaded to follow after the things of this world or we are told deceiving things that are calling us to follow after the things of the world, Paul says to “walk in Him, be rooted in Him and to be built up in Him. “
That word rooted is an agricultural word. And the tense of the word here means “once and for all having been rooted.” We are not to be like tumbleweeds that are just being blown around by the wind by every of doctrine that the world has. When I was a kid growing up in Whittier, we would often see tumbleweeds going down the street on a windy day. “There they go!” And if we follow the world we will be like tumbleweeds.
So when the issues of life come against us and when the enemy comes to throw us off balance we CAN be steadfast when we sink our roots deep down into the Word of God. Rooted and grounded in Him!
