Proverbs 22:3

Proverbs 22:3

A prudent man foresees evil and hides himself, but the simple pass on and are punished.

Proverbs 22:3

There is much to be said about being prepared in our daily lives as well as our spiritual ones. Some take the road that tells them that they should lock themselves in a bunker and wait for Jesus to return. Others believe that we are to be a light in the world and roam amongst the unsaved as called in the Great Commission. As Christians, both of these views actually apply, but in a different way. It is true that we are not to live in this world spiritually speaking, but at the same time we very much need to. It may not be reasonable to physically hide away from all the evil that passes by, but we are completely capable of locking away God’s spiritual truths in our hearts and minds so that no one can ever touch them. That is how a prudent man can foresee evil and hide from it.

On the other side of the coin, there is still the subject of the lost that are living among us. I’m sure we all know someone, a friend or family member, who doesn’t just avoid evil, but seems to embrace it. And as you would expect, their lives are a revolving door of bad decisions and often punishment. It is those that we are called to be light to and locking away ourselves from them is only making it harder for them to feel the love of God. Proverbs 22:3 wants us to indeed hide from evil, not with our bodies, but with our hearts and minds. By continuing to live amongst the lost, we can help open doors for Jesus to enter and no longer let them feel passed over and punished.

God Bless,
