Philippians 2:3
Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.
Philippians 2:3
I heard a story of a 9-year-old girl playing outside and dad was listening to her and her friends from the living room. Soon they got louder, yelling and becoming insulting and he stepped out and said, “What is going on here?”
His 9-year-old said, “Daddy, it’s ok, we are just playing church!”
The church has a history of not getting along, doesn’t it? The Bible is filled with conflict amongst the saints and church history is filled with divisions and schisms and fights. The world must often stand shaking its head at the people of God. I suspect if we all took Philippians 2:3 to heart, we could be an unbelievable witness to the work of God in our lives and stand out before a world lost in self and darkness.
Esteem others better than yourself, don’t be motivated by self-interest, ambition or conceit. Keep this in mind today and ask the Lord to make you a living witness and an example of a life lived on His care and by His Spirit.
Asking God to make me more like Him,
