All Hail King Solomon

After David’s death, Adonijah tries a backhanded attempt to seize the throne, but Solomon saw through his masquerade and had Adonijah executed fulfilling all the more of God’s prophetic words regarding David’s family. Additionally, Solomon followed David’s instructions of eliminating certain individuals who were threats to his reign. The greatest application in these chapters is when Solomon went to the Lord to ask for wisdom because he felt overwhelmed with the responsibility of governing God’s people. It was then that God commended Solomon for asking for wisdom rather than for riches. Solomon was then granted to have wisdom beyond anything that anyone has ever experienced.
