In John’s day, there were many false teachers seeking to draw believers away from the truth of God’s Word. Therefore, John warns the people of these false teachers and then gives them a means of discerning the true teachers of God’s Word versus the false. Basically the test comes down to what is being said about Jesus and His deity. John then gives believer’s the assurance of God’s protection by telling that since God lives in us by His Spirit, He then is greater than the false spirit of the world. In this study, Pastor Jack brings John’s application into the context for today’s world.
