And at this point His disciples came, and they marveled that He talked with a woman; yet no one said, “What do You seek?” or, “Why are You talking with her?”

When Jesus departed from the disciples, He did not leave them empty handed. In fact, they were given much power and strength in the form of the Holy Spirit. We too can share in that comfort when we become part of God’s family and give our hearts to Him. We are never without His presence and there is no cave or deepest pit in which we shall dwell that can separate us from God’s unending love. The Spirit that hovered over the waters before life roamed the world has entered our bodies and souls and is burning with an unquenchable flame.

When a family member passes away, there will often be the reading of a will. That is when relatives will find out what they have been gifted from the departed. Usually most are happy, but some feel cheated.  But even the most prestigious gift will eventually be forgotten, lost, or possibly squandered. Isn’t it wonderful to know that God gives equally and without reserve to all His children when they accept His free gift of salvation? The indwelling of the Holy Spirit will help discern and guide our every thought as long as we listen to it and remember that it truly is the gift that keeps on giving. We’ve all heard the old saying, “The only things for sure in life are death and taxes.” But to the believer, it is first and foremost the Great Comforter.
