Matthew 14:27-29

Matthew 14:27-29

But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Be of good cheer!  It is I; do not be afraid.”  And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.”  So He said, “Come.”  And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus.

Matthew 14:27-29

Jesus had sent His guys ahead on a boat to the other side of the Sea of Galilee.  And while they were on the boat, in the middle of a storm, Jesus came to them walking on the water.  And for a few brief seconds, Peter did too!

It was a miracle as Peter walked to Jesus on that water that day and he was doing just fine until he looked to his left and to his right when he felt the wind blowing and saw the waves crashing.  All of a sudden the situation was his focus and not the Lord. And splash!

I think we are all a lot like Peter. When difficulties and situations come into our lives, we can so easily get our eyes off of Jesus and onto the situation.  And when we do that, we will begin to sink every time. This passage is a great reminder that when we go through the storms of life, we need to keep our eyes on the Lord!

Staying focused on Him,
