Exodus 3:10-12

Then Moses said to the Lord, “Please Lord, I have never been eloquent, neither recently nor in the past, nor since you have spoken to Your servant; for I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.” Then the Lord said to him, “Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes him mute or deaf, or seeing or blind? Is it not I the Lord? Now then go, and I, even I will be with your mouth, and teach you what you are to say.”

Exodus 3:10-12

Moses had concerns when God commissioned him to go before Pharoah and ask for the release of the Israelites. Ironically, it was after God had spoken to him in the form of a burning bush. It was also after He had given Moses special abilities with which to convince Pharoah that he had indeed been sent by God. Still, Moses was unsure that he would be able speak well in the court of Pharoah. Even after witnessing the presence of God, and the signs and wonders given to him by God, Moses was still afraid.

Often times, we can proclaim great faith in what God will do in our lives yet begin to tremble when He asks us to speak up. Is it not God who made everything and given every ability to all creation in the first place? We can forget that He has the ability to put the right words in our mouths at the right time. God is not looking for us to impress Him with what we think we can do but is looking for the obedience that He requires. When He asks of you to speak, it will be the power of God that goes before you. Moses was afraid because he was “hung up” on his inability to speak well. Let’s remain “hung up” on God’s ability to speak for us.
