“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.”

I love to hike. There’s something about being out on a mountain trail, surrounded by God’s wonderful works of beauty, that just exhilarates my soul.  Now and then, as you move along at a decent pace, you come upon a narrow trail.  I mean, it really narrows.  Not only is it not wide enough to walk side-by-side, but at times, you have to literally put one foot directly in front of the other to stay on the trail.  This isn’t so bad in some kind of meadow, but on the side of a mountain, it can be a little unnerving.

The glorious part about finding a trail like this is, you know, because it is obviously less traveled, it usually will lead to a beautiful spot that is virtually untouched by humans.  The difficulty of the journey is always worth the effort.

The life of the Christian is a single-track trail that, at times, is difficult and scary.  And even though it may be treacherous and you may walk miles of it alone, the trail’s end holds a beauty that we can’t even describe.  So stay on the trail, look to Jesus, and soon you’ll get to that narrow gate where you will see Him face to face.
