Deuteronomy 5:33

Deuteronomy 5:33

“You shall walk in all the ways which the Lord your God has commanded you, that you may live and that it may be well with you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which you shall possess.”

Deuteronomy 5:33

Sometimes, the world may view God as a domineering tyrant who wants to constrict or “cut out” our fun, much like when a child holds their breath and kicks and screams, it is because they are fighting against their flesh and the parents who only want the best for them. It is easier than one realizes to fall into a temper tantrum and act like a spoiled child, especially if they are not nurturing their relationship with God. How often do we, as believers, find ourselves kicking, screaming, and fighting against our Heavenly Father? Have we become too comfortable?

When we become new creations, we are given specific marching orders through God’s Word that are for our good. But the flesh will always want to take the path of least resistance and fall back into old ways. Ways that do not prolong our days and that will keep us out of our promised land.

Take some time today to take stock of all that God has done for you and is doing for you. Let His promises and the price paid on the cross be a remembrance that God seeks to give us life over and abundantly. We don’t have to wait until we reach Heaven before we can experience God’s love. We can have peace now. Peace that comes from a God who seeks to give us a prolonged life that is fulfilling and leaves us lacking for nothing.

God Bless,
