Genesis 13:8-9
So Abram said to Lot, “Please let there be no strife between you and me, and between my herdsmen and your herdsmen for we are brethren. Is not the whole land before you? Please separate from me. If you take the left then I will go to the right; or, if you go the right, then I will go to the left.”
Genesis 13:8-9
Wow, talk about faith! There was some tension building between Abram’s people and Lot’s people. And so Abram decided to let God take care of the entire situation. Abram had seniority; he was Lot’s uncle, and spiritually, he was the heir of all the land. But Abram had gone back to God, he had been to the altar. And what was the result? He let go and let Lot decide! He learned to put aside his own needs and desires to carry out his own plans. He had learned how to sacrifice, and most importantly, he knew God would take care of him.
My flesh wants to hold onto all that I have. My flesh wants to keep everything for Numero Uno, but God says, let it go. Have you been holding onto something lately? Maybe you don’t want to forgive that person. Or maybe your marriage has been challenged lately because you know best. God would say let it go and watch Him work! Be still and know that He is God. That is what Abram did, and God blessed him for it.
Learning to let it go,
