One of the problems with being human is that we always try to save ourselves because of a lack of patience. How many times have you asked someone to do something for you, whether it be at home, work, or church, and have become frustrated because the task was not being accomplished quickly enough? I want to say that patience is my most prominent virtue, but it isn’t. I’d bet that a lot of people are in such a hurry that they sometimes have the tendency to “jump in” and just do the job themselves! Unfortunately, when asking God for help, this is where our faith sometimes fails.

God wants us to know we are victorious because of Him and His ability to respond to our needs in His perfect time. Perhaps you have been agonizing over a prayer request that has spanned decades, and although you believe God will eventually answer, it is still agonizing. Remember that not only does the battle belong to the Lord, but the victory as well. We can praise God for both answered and unanswered prayers as well. If you find yourself becoming weary in the waiting, then I am suggesting that we need to begin thanking God for the unanswered prayers and the victories yet to unfold. Just as faith requires action on our part, being victorious in Christ is closely tied to our faith. As the old western song goes, “Thank God for unanswered prayers.”
