Proverbs 24:16
For a righteous man may fall seven times And rise again, But the wicked shall fall by calamity.
Proverbs 24:16
This is one of my favorite verses in the Bible because it explains so succinctly a major difference between believers and non-believers. We are all going to fail at times. Romans 3:23 says, All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. I wish when I got saved, the Lord would have made me sinless, and I could just live life perfectly.
God didn’t do that, but He did something just as incredible. He sacrificed His Son on the cross for my sins so that every sin I committed, am committing, and will commit will be forgiven. I can rise again when I fall into sin because the Lord picks me up, dusts me off, and says, “Now, try it again.” That only happens because I accepted Jesus as my Savior.
On the other hand, the wicked fall by their calamity. Their sins, without Jesus’ forgiveness, will be accounted to them, and they will be judged for them. Which would you rather be? A forgiven sinner or a judged one?
Choose Jesus!
