Proverbs 4:5-9

“Get wisdom! Get understanding! Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth. Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you; Love her, and she will keep you. Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding. Exalt her, and she will promote you; She will bring you honor, when you embrace her. She will place on your head an ornament of grace; A crown of glory she will deliver to you.”
Proverbs 4:5-9

Early in the Proverbs, Solomon speaks directly to his son about the wisdom God has available that he needs to seek after. As do we. Using the illustration of wisdom being a woman to court, Solomon says we need a passion for the Word of God!

How much we are in need of proper bible study, learning to rightly divide truth, and gaining wisdom with understanding from the Lord. Verse 7 tells us this must be the principal pursuit of our lives, for it leads us to glory and the grace God has given to deliver us. Promotion, honor, grace, and glory are the words Solomon uses to describe the result of putting the wisdom of God upon a pedestal in our lives.
