1 Peter 1:3-4
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you.
1 Peter 1:3-4
Peter wrote this letter to Christians who were being severely persecuted. Much of the letter follows this theme in these verses: God’s abundant mercy has brought about our salvation and inheritance. We have a hope that is living and breathing in Christ Jesus. He is our hope for everything, Including our inheritance reserved in heaven.
For Peter’s audience, this would be important to be reminded of as they endured their persecution. And it is important for us to face whatever comes our way this week. We can never let our Living Hope out of sight; we can never forget what God has done for us. It makes enduring our trials more bearable when we remember that this is temporary, that we have the hope of heaven.
