John 4:10
Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”
John 4:10
My house doesn’t have an automatic sprinkler system, and I have learned the hard way that grass will simply die without a continual water supply. So I need to get the hose out and water it just about every day if I want it to be healthy and green.
We need water every day as well, and it was that very need that Jesus used to open up a conversation with this Samaritan woman about her deeper need for Spiritual “Living Water” in her life. You see, life’s scorching heat and searing winds had dried this poor woman out, and her answer was to come alone each day and draw water from an old well. But Jesus had something much better to offer her, “living water,” that would do far more than quench her physical thirst; it would satisfy her soul with God’s grace.
Are you drinking from that garden hose of the world, coming away still thirsty with a bad taste in your mouth? Instead, fill up on the Living Water of God’s grace. Let it become to you a “fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”
