Luke 21:1-4
And He looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury, and He saw also a certain poor widow putting in two mites. So He said, “Truly I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all; for all these out of their abundance have put in offerings for God, but she out of her poverty put in all the livelihood that she had.”
Luke 21:1-4
One sign of your love for the Lord is what you’re willing to give, not just in money but out of your life. The woman in these verses was a poor woman who could never give the amount of money the rich people did. She had two pennies in her possession and could have kept one for herself. Instead, she contributed both, and Jesus praised her not because He needed the money, but appreciated the woman’s heart for the things of God.
The same can happen when it comes to serving the Lord. There are some who just pour their heart and soul into ministry and give their all to whatever they’re doing. They’re in prayer; they’re examining themselves to make sure they’re doing the right thing because they want to make sure the Lord is glorified by their work. Then there are others who serve if it’s convenient and doesn’t cost them anything.
Let’s let this poor widow be an example to us and give all that we can to the Lord. He deserves it!
Giving from my poverty,
