Jeremiah 20:9

Jeremiah 20:9

Then I said, “I will not make mention of Him, Nor speak anymore in His name.”
But His word was in my heart like a burning fire Shut up in my bones; I was weary of holding it back, And I could not.

Jeremiah 20:9

“It’s hard being a believer.” That’s something you’ve heard or even said numerous times. Never was that truer than for Jeremiah. He preached to the people of Judah for over 40 years and never had a convert. Instead he was mocked and imprisoned for his faith. It got to be too much for him, and in the above verse, he says he’s given up on making mention of the Lord or speaking in His name.

That vow lasted one sentence. By the time he reached the second sentence in this verse, he realized God’s word burned so much in his heart he couldn’t hold it back if he wanted to.

May we be the same. Hopefully, God’s word is such an important part of our lives that not saying it hurts much more than the pain that comes from sharing it. Have you shared God’s word today?

Desiring to share Your word,

Pastor Ron Kitchell
