Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

This is such a good verse! If I’m ever thinking bad thoughts towards someone, this verse reminds me of how God thinks of me. Despite letting Him down numerous times, He still thinks thoughts of peace towards me to give me a future and hope. He doesn’t think, “Man, when is Ron going to get it right!” or “That’s the last straw; Heaven is closed for him.”

This makes me wonder why we have those unkind thoughts towards others. So often, we judge people based on the worst thing they have ever done instead of remembering all the good they did before that. My relationship with people will be better if I look at them through God’s eyes, with a heart that’s looking to make peace, not judge.

Teach me to see others as You see them, Lord,
